Exceptional Education & Student Services (EE/SS)

Intervention Services

Technical Assistance- Intervention Services is designed to provide comprehensive support to exceptional education students who exhibit severe emotional and /or behavioral problems by utilizing resources within the school and community. Intervention Services assists students, parents and school personnel in identifying appropriate behavioral management strategies and in developing and implementing alternative solutions.

Conduct Review Meetings- chairs the committee meeting that reviews Class III/IV Code of Student Conduct violations to determine if the offense is a manifestation of the student’s disability.

Case Management- monitors the academic and behavioral progress of exceptional education students in educational programs other than comprehensive schools including mental health facilities, center and alternative school placements.

Dept. of Children and Families- participates in the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) and the Family Services Planning and Intervention Team (FSPIT) to assist in determining the appropriateness and level of state funded mental health residential treatment for students.

Home Instruction- coordinates home educational services to expelled and disruptive/dangerous exceptional education students.

Parent Support Groups- conducts support groups for parents of exceptional education students.

Inservice Training- provides behavior management inservices for teachers and administrators of exceptional education students.

District Level SED Review- organizes the review process for all in and out-of-county students being considered for Severely Emotionally Disturbed (SED) educational placements.

Dept. of Juvenile Justice- provides liaison and support for exceptional education students involved with the juvenile court system and participates in the DJJ commitment staffings and the Youth Crisis Center (YCC) ungovernable student staffings.

Mental Health Support Services- monitors and coordinates agency contracted school based therapeutic services for eligible exceptional education students.
