Florida Parent/Guardian Involvement in Education Month
Duval County Public Schools and the Florida Department of Education have designated November 2010 as Florida Parent/Guardian Involvement in Education Month.
We recognize that family involvement in a child’s learning is critical to his/her success from preschool through college.
Learning should take place not just in the classroom, but at home where family plays an active role.
The DCPS Title I Success by Design Family Involvement Center, located at S. P. Livingston Elementary School, 1128 Barber Street, provides family involvement activities for elementary, middle and high school families. The Family Involvement Center also offers parent/family workshops that provide strategies and tips to be used at home. Please
click here to visit the Title I Success by Design Family Involvement Center Web site for more
information about workshops and family involvement activities.
You can also download the attached Parent Involvement
Pledge, in English and
Spanish, where
parents/guardians take personal responsibility in their child’s safety and
education and the safety and education of children in this community. Additional activities can be found at the Florida Parental Information and Resource Center at University of South Florida (USF) Web site,
www.floridapirc.usf.edu and FL PIRC of Family Network on Disabilities of Florida (FND) Web site:

For additional resources to support family involvement, contact Debra Keels at 904.630.6729 and/or visit the District Title I Success by Design Family Involvement Center. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and open on Thursday until 6 p.m.
