The best place for information about student financial aid is the financial aid office at the postsecondary institution you plan to attend. The financial aid administrator can tell you about student aid available from your state, the institution itself, and other sources.
But what if you’re just in the planning stages? The Internet is an incredible resource for financial aid information. Many postsecondary institutions: colleges, universities, technical schools have information about financial aid on their websites.
You can also get free information from the U.S. Department of Education’s website at http://studentaid.ed.gov, including access to free publications such as Funding your Educationand The Student Guide. These are the best initial sources of information on federal student aid.
You can also find free information about federal, state, institutional, and private student aid in your high school counselor’s office or local library’s reference section (usually listed under “student aid” or “financial aid”).
The Bright Futures Scholarship offers a wonderful opportunity for many students in Florida to have all or part of their college tuition paid for by the state. Learn more about the details of this scholarship at the Department of Education's Bright Futures Website.

You can enter your zip code, city, skills, interests, and availability can be matched with organizations needing your help. Also visit www.YSA.org, Youth Service America. This resource center coordinates 300+ organizations committed to increasing the quantity and quality of volunteer opportunities for young Americans, ages 5 – 25. You will need the Community Service Form and the Community Service Verification Form to document your service hours.

Congressional Black Caucus Scholarships
The Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Foundation is now accepting applications for the CBC Spouses Education Scholarship Fund, the CBC Spouses Cheerios Band Health Initiative Scholarship Fund and the CBC Spouses Performing Arts Scholarship Fund. The CBC Spouses Scholarship program is open to graduating high school seniors, undergraduate and graduate students. Scholarship information and application forms are available online at www.cbcfinc.org. Due to tightened mail security, Representative Corrine Brown has asked that applications from the Third District be mailed to her special assistant, Roshan Hodge, at an alternate address: CBCF Scholarships, 3109 River Bend Court #D102, Laurel, MD 20724.
Harvard Scholarship
Harvard University announced over the weekend that from now on undergraduate students from low-income families will pay no tuition. In making the announcement, Harvard's president Lawrence H. Summers said, "When only 10 percent of the students in Elite higher education come from families in lower half of the income distribution, we are not doing enough. We are not doing enough in bringing elite higher education to the lower half of the income distribution."
