Leonore Gualano has served more than 17
years as a teacher, serving all of that time in Duval
County. Her parents were both teachers and influenced
her decision to make education her profession. She is
actively involved in the lives of her students and keeps
track of some of her students as they make their way
into their professional careers.
Her classroom is structured to invite
openness, inquiry and learning while promoting order and
respect. Leonore feels that as a “practicing teacher”
she is responsible for continuing to learn new avenues
that will reach each student. She does this through
professional development and networking with other
professionals.

have not resulted in college degrees, but they all have
resulted in a very personal satisfaction for me and a
sense of instilling some purpose and direction in each
