DCPS wins the Silver Healthy District Award!
Coordinated School Health Partnership (CSHP) and Florida Action for Healthy Kids (FLAFHK) recently announced DCPS as one of the eight districts recognized as Healthy School Districts for 2010-2012.
The Florida Healthy School District Self Assessment tool assesses district infrastructure, policies, programs and practices identified from national and state guidelines, best practices, Florida statutes and the Coordinated School Health (CSH) model.

DCPS Employee Wellness Wins Award from the American Heart Association
The American Heart Association (AMA) recently announced that Duval County Public Schools is a
2009 Start! Fit-Friendly Gold Award Winner.
According to the AMA, the DCPS' Employee Wellness Department's "attention to wellness and passion for employees and their health will build a stronger First Coast community free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke."
DCPS Employee Wellness Wins Award from Mayor
During the inaugural First Coast Worksite Wellness Conference in May, Jacksonville Mayor John Peyton presented Duval County Public Schools’ Department of Employee Wellness with a Bronze Award for being one of Jacksonville's Healthiest 100 Worksites.
DCPS' Employee Wellness was one of many wellness worksites throughout Jacksonville to be recognized by the Mayor’s Council on Fitness and Well-Being.
These awards were designed to commend and formally recognize companies and organizations of all sizes for their commitment to improving employee health.
To qualify for the bronze award, DCPS had to have a health promotion program with employee health and wellness as the underlying goal.
