alternative education

I Have a Job Offer, What Do I Do Now?
Congratulations! You have been offered a alternative education position. There are several steps required to officially make you a part of the DCPS team.

  • Step 1 – Your Assignment

    • Find out the details of your alternative education assignment from your director.  Alternative education includes: community education, extended day, SAI tutor and AVID Tutor.
  • Step 2 – Review/Approval Process

  • Step 3 – New Hire Processing Appointment

    • Call your schools designated staffing assistant to schedule a set-up appointment (see packet for contact information).
    • Bring your completed and approved set-up paperwork with you to your appointment.
    • Your employment setup paperwork must be completed and approved prior to your appointment.
    • If at any time you have questions, please refer to the contact information provided in your paperwork packet. We are here to help you through the hiring process.
  • Step 4 – At your appointment

    • You will turn in your completed employment paperwork and required documents.
    • Bring the documents used for I-9 verification.
    • You will be fingerprinted. Refer to your set-up forms for information regarding fingerprint payment, if applicable. Effective October 1, 2008, ALL new employees (full-time and part-time) and re-hires with a one day break in service must have their fingerprints taken by the Duval County School Board Security Office.

You are not authorized to work until your director receives clearance from the staffing office.
