Is ACP right for you?

Qualifications

To qualify for the Duval County Public Schools Alternative Certification Program, an applicant must:

  1. Be a paid instructional employee of the Duval County Public Schools in a teaching assignment that does not vary from day to day.
  2. Hold a temporary teaching certificate from the Florida Department of Education.
  3. Sign the ACP application and contract as an agreement of participation.

Screening

Current Duval County Public Schools instructional employees, who are non-college of education majors, may be screened for interest and appropriate placement in the ACP.

Length of the ACP

A minimum of 180 days to the end of the participant’s temporary teaching  certificate validity period, contingent upon a second and third year contract with the school district.
