Status of Eligibility is your guide for obtaining
professional certification. It is important that you
know your certification requirements, and are
aware of the “June 30th” deadline. Please refer to the
following links for information that will assist you in
meeting your certification deadlines.

Moving from a Temporary to a Professional
Your Statement of
Status of Eligibility (SOE) outlines
each of your requirements for obtaining professional
certification.
Note that you must pass the
General Knowledge (GK) exam
within your first year of hire in Florida, prior to June
30th; unless you are hired in Florida after
the school year begins - in which case you may be
allowed until June 30th of the following
school year.
Your SOE will outline your education coursework
requirements. You may want to consider an
alternative certification program, which will
satisfy your coursework and professional education
competence requirements.
After completing the
above requirements and your practical experience in
teaching you may apply for your professional certificate
online.
Do not wait until the
last minute to apply. Application processing can take up
to 90 days.
Adding a Subject Area
Submit a completed
Addition Application and processing fee to the
FLDOE.
ESOL Information
Teachers who are assigned English Language Learners
(ELL) must complete the required ESOL training or
certification within a designated timeframe. Please
review the ESOL information
brochure.
Out-of-Field Information
Teaching out-of-field
means that you are teaching a course for which the
appropriate subject coverage is not shown on your
teaching certificate. Please review your
certification
options.
