I Have a Job Offer, What Do I Do Now?
Congratulations! You have been offered a job in a support position. There are several steps that will take place to officially make you a part of the DCPS team.

  • Step 1 – New Hire Request
    • Your principal/administrator will submit a formal request to hire to our office.
  • Step 2 – Eligibility Determination
    • The staffing office will verify that there is an authorized vacancy to be filled, and that you are eligible for the assigned position.
  • Step 3 – Background Screening
    • You must be fingerprinted by our DCPS Security Office and cleared prior to your set-up appointment. Refer to your set-up forms for information regarding fingerprint payment. Effective October 1, 2008, ALL new employees (full-time and part-time) and re-hires with a one day break in service must have their fingerprints taken by the Duval County School Board Security Office.
    • A member of the staffing team will contact you to schedule your fingerprint appointment.
    • After you have been cleared for hire, we will contact you to schedule your employment set-up appointment. If at any time you have questions, you may contact our office at 390-2064.
  • Step 4 – New Hire Processing Appointment
    • Your employment set-up paperwork must be completed prior to your appointment. For your convenience you may download the forms, or you have the option of picking up your packet at the district office.  Full Time or Part Time New Hire Set-Up Paperwork (.pdf format).
Note: Adobe Reader is required to view the file.
Click here to download free of charge.
    • Review the documentation requirements for your set-up appointment carefully. Please print the entire set-up packet, complete the forms thoroughly, and bring them with you to your appointment.
  • Step 5 – Benefits Information
    • Prior to your appointment you should review the benefits package offered through the district. You may pick up an information packet from the school board prior to your appointment, or simply view them online.
  • Step 6 – At Your Appointment
    • You will turn in your completed employment paperwork and required documents.
    • You will receive a DCPS photo ID.
    • You will select your health care providers and review additional benefits.
Accepting A Position
Please review your job description and the Collective Bargaining Agreement which covers your position for more details regarding your employment.

Declining A Position
If you feel that the position you have been offered is not the right choice for you, please notify the Principal/Administrator immediately.
