Parent Involvement Plan –
The Parent Involvement
Plan is a plan that describes how Joseph Stilwell Middle School will
carry out the parental involvement requirements of the Title I
program.
Parent Portal-
Parent Portal is a
100% web-based gradebook and attendance program that is being
implemented district wide. It will allow parents and students
convenient access to progress reports, current grades and
attendance online 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
Parent Involvement Calendar –
Governor Crist has proclaimed the month of
November as: "Parental Involvement in Education Month.” Attached you
will find the DCPS Title I Parent Involvement calendars for middle
school.

The DCPS Academic Looking
Glass
newsletter is a quick reference guide that details the district
curriculum that students should be learning during a sliding two
week window in the core content areas of Science, Math, Reading,
Writing, English Language Arts (ELA) and Social Studies. The
Looking Glass is distributed electronically to principals, teachers
and district staff on a bi-weekly basis during the school year.
Other content areas regularly covered by the newsletter include
Read 180, select Advance Placement (AP) courses and timely
information from departments such as Exceptional Student Education
and Guidance Services.

Gizmos - Math and
Science Gizmos are designed to help students develop a deep and
lasting understanding of key concepts in math and science through
inquiry and exploration. Gizmos provide our students with over
450 math and science web-based manipulatives. The activities are
designed as supplemental curriculum materials that support state and
national curriculum standards.
Compass Odyssey

Our district has chosen to use Compass
Learning Odyssey, a Web-based curriculum, to enhance your child’s
educational experience. The Odyssey program offers a customized
learning program for your child. The targeted instruction is aligned
with state and national standards while a variety of instructional
approaches facilitate differentiated instruction to meet the needs
of your child. You and your child have immediate access to the
progress report that is located in the "backpack" icon. This
is a great opportunity for your child to extend the learning time
while keeping him/her engaged, entertained, and receptive to
learning.
