Friends of Stockton Update

Friends of Stockton is a volunteer organization of men who make a difference at John Stockton Elementary School, a Duval County school located in the Ortega Forest neighborhood. With grades KG through 5, the school averages 550 students.  The mission of Friends of Stockton is to support the school through volunteering and fundraising.  Specifically, we try to contribute both manpower and dollars to improve the school’s campus and to provide teachers and students the needed resources such as books, computers, and supplies.  One hundred percent of what we raise goes towards our projects.

Friends of Stockton completed several projects including Dads active in classroom activities, two clean up days during the school year and two big projects.  One was installing an automatic sprinkler drip system for the ten trees that were planted two years ago as part of the Better Jacksonville Plan.  We also built “Stockton Square”, which is shown below.  The project included a concrete pour, sod, mulch, and a sprinkler system.

We put in about 60 hours of labor cleaning up the grounds, rebuilding the dumpster area, and contributing to the teachers to buy supplies for their classes.  Our future projects depend on contributions from businesses and individuals like you.
