Summer really has flown by this school year and I hope you all found time to have some fun. I had a chance to go on several family outings and spend some time at the beach. I love the start of a new school year and am looking forward to seeing you all very soon. This year at Susie E. Tolbert we will be planting, cultivating, and harvesting success! This is an exciting school theme for us, since we will begin our own organic gardening adventure this year. We have secured all the materials for our raised garden beds and we will be looking for some “worker bees” to get them all set-up. Our Principal’s Book of the Year will be Seedfolks by Paul Fleischman and we will learn how one garden brings a very diverse community together to overcome any obstacles. Tolbert is an amazing school with a valuable and diverse learning community. I am looking forward to a year were we roll up our sleeves, get out our gardening tools, work hard, nurture our thinking and learning, and harvest our success! I look forward to a wonderful 2011-12 school year and am so happy each of you is joining our garden! Sincerely, Kim Harrison, Principal
