Parents are always welcome to eat lunch with their child. We ask that all parents coming to the cafeteria follow the procedures listed below.

No Lunch Money Policy

Students in grades PreK-5 who forget to bring their lunch money will be allowed to run a negative balance of 1.60 for lunch, plus up to 5 free lunches during the first week of school.

• When a student reaches the maximum negative balance amount of -$1.60 the student will receive a non-reimbursable "substitute meal" of a cheese sandwich and a juice for lunch; the student will receive this "substitute meal" until the balance in their account has been cleared or they have brought cash to purchase a meal.

Students will not be allowed to charge breakfast.

• Each day at the end of lunch the Cafeteria Manager will run a ‘Negative Balance Report’ to be filed daily. The manager will then run a negative balance letter from WinSnap which will be put in the teachers’ boxes for distribution to the students, to be sent home to the parents.

• At the end of each month letters will be mailed out to the parents of all students with a balance of $1.60 to collect the negative balance. This letter will be sent out from the school office or the DCPS food service office if the school is unwilling to mail.

• All students in middle and high school must follow traditional guidelines and either prepay or provide payment at point of sale if they are a Paid or Reduced status.

  • Sign in at lobby desk

  • Sit in Wildcat Café with their child(ren) only, during that student’s regular lunch period.  We do not pull student’s from their class to eat with siblings if it is not their regularly scheduled lunch period. This includes birthday celebrations.

  • No cameras of any kind (including camera phones)

  • No cell phones

  • If a parent is picking up a child for dismissal, give the blue slip obtained from the office to the para.

  • For birthday celebrations – only items in individual serving sizes allowed, i.e. cupcakes, single serving size cups of ice cream, juice boxes, etc.  These items must be store bought and in sealed containers.  No adornments (rings, toys, etc.) on the cupcakes; no candles or balloons.  There must be a treat for every child in the class.  Either the parent or student must serve the items and help with clean-up.
