Dear New Fourth Grader,

We are so excited about the 2012-2013 school year! We look forward to welcoming you back to school on Monday, August 20. We have a fantastic year planned for you and you won’t want to miss a thrilling minute of it.

Some of the exciting experiences in fourth grade include: a study of our great state of Florida, an end of the year field trip to St. Augustine, the study of motion in science, a rocket launch, mastering multiplication tables and becoming critical thinkers in math, and reading and writing adventures galore!

To prepare yourself for the best school year yet, spend some time this summer exercising your body and your brain! Keep a list of all the books you read this summer because they will count toward your 25 book goal. (In fourth grade 125 pages equals one book.) Also, start a journal of all the fun activities you have this summer – even if it is just watching the clouds in the summer sky – because those experiences may turn into a fantastic narrative writing piece.

At fourth grade orientation, your new teacher will discuss expectations, rituals and routines, and standards for fourth grade, so make plans not to miss this very important meeting. Teachers will also provide an individual class supply list at that time.

The 2012-2013 school round up at Twin Lakes Academy Elementary begins August 20 and we will “Saddle Up for Success.” We can’t wait to see you, and again, welcome to fourth grade.
