5th Grade Parent Information

Physical
Education and Health
All students
will take a full year of Physical Education. During one of the nine
week periods students will attend Health Class. PE and Health are
required courses.
While in PE,
students will need to dress out to participate. During Orientation , PE
teachers will provide students with dress out requirements. PE lockers
are required to dress out . The fee is $2.
Before/After
School Programs
A morning care
program is available from 7:00 a.m. until 9:15 a.m. each school day.
Sign up for the program will be available during our Orientation which
will be held tentatively on a Saturday in August. The current cost
of the program is $90 per month. Students not participating in the
morning program should not be on campus until 9:15 a.m.
The after school
program, TEAM-UP, is available as an academic assistance program to help
students with homework and to assist students encountering academic
difficulty. Sign up for TEAM-UP will be available during our
Orientation in August. The program is free.
Grade Recovery
assistance is also offered after school for those students who have
received a D or F in one or more of their core courses. This program
gives the students an opportunity to recover their grades to a C because
summer school is not offered. It will be available after the first
grading period.
Promotional
Requirements
Students are
expected to successfully complete four 6th grade core courses with a 1.5
or above GPA: Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies.
Students receiving a Level I or 2 on the FCAT Reading test must take a
year long reading class in lieu of their electives. Scoring a level 1
or 2 in math may require a year long Intensive Math class.
House Lockers
Students are
assigned a locker at the beginning of the year. Students are required
to rent a lock for $6. For safety reasons, private locks are not
permitted on school lockers. |
