PTA and SAC

As a new school, we need to work hard to start out with a strong partnership between home and school.  To do this, we need your support.  We need to organize our Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and School Advisory Council (SAC).  We need all parents to come and participate on both committees. We would like to hold an initial meeting for both groups so that we can begin laying out our plans for the year.  We need to elect officers of both committees and decide what dates and times we will meet.  Our first meetings will be held as follows:

SAC - Tuesday, September 16th at 6:00pm

PTA - Thursday, September 2nd at 5:30pm

Both meetings will be held here at our school in the Cafetorium.   Please plan to attend these important meetings.  I look forward to working with each and every family!

Academic Resources

Academic Looking Glass

Click here to view the DCPS Academic Looking Glass!

The DCPS Academic Looking Glass is produced bi-weekly to assist principals, teachers, parents, and district staff as a quick reference guide about what students are learning during a sliding two week window.

The learning schedules listed are not comprehensive due to space constraints and should be considered fluid in nature, as teachers are given flexibility in the speed of coverage according to the needs of students.

Car Riders

To ensure the safety of our youngest students at the end of the day, we ask that you pay close attention to the car riding procedures.  Parents who are picking up students in Kindergarten ONLY will come to the car loading area at the main entrance at 2:35 pm.  Parents who are picking up students in 1st grade should arrive at 2:40, 2nd grade should arrive at 2:45 and 3rd grade at 2:50 pm.  Students in grades 4th - 8th will dismiss in the same area at 3:00pm.

If you have more than one child and one of the children is in Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, or 3rd grade, your older child will report to the carport area at a later time and sit with the younger child.  You will use the carport area to pick up both children at 3:00 pm.  Staff will be on hand to direct you.  All  Exceptional Education students in our self contained classes will be picked up/dropped off in the ESE parent drop off area located just past the main entrance in the second loop.   Please try not to arrive too early and block others from picking up their child on time.

Bus Schedule

Bus schedules are not available at this time.  We anticipate that the bus schedules will be available to us very soon.  We hope to have copies of the schedule for each family at orientation on August 19th.

As a reminder, Kindergarten and First Grade students should not walk home alone.  They should be accompanied by a responsible older student or adult.  Thank you for your assistance in keeping our children safe.
