Welcome Back!
Welcome Back!
Hello and Welcome! I am so excited as we move closer to the beginning of a wonderful new school year. The summer has flown by here at Westview K-8, where we have been busy preparing for this new school year. Don’t forget that school starts on August 22nd..
Middle School Student
Orientation is scheduled for
Thursday, August 18th at
6:00 pm
for all students in 6th,7th, and 8th grades.
Elementary Student Orientation is scheduled for
Friday,
August
19th for Grades PreK-5th.
Orientation will be held
at
the following times:
10:00am
- Grades PreK, Kdg., and 1st
12:30pm - Grades 2nd and 3rd
2:00 pm
- Grades
4th and
5th.
We ask
that you arrive as close as possible
to your assigned time as
our
preplanning schedule is extremely busy and other meetings have been
scheduled throughout the day.
Your
teacher assignment
is listed below.
Our
kick-off theme for the school year is “Reach
for the Stars… Lights, Camera, Action, Setting the Stage for Success!”
to go along with our instructional
focus
here at
Westview K-8.
Our first book of the month
is
“Star of the Week”
by Barney Saltzberg.
I chose this for our first Book of the Month because it
compliments
our new theme and demonstrates our
commitment to providing a
quality
and creative
educational
program
here at
Westview K-8.
Enclosed you will find your child’s school
supply list. If you
purchase your supplies from
Office Depot,
please give our school ID number to the cashier so that our school
receives credit for your
purchases and 5% cash back to be used for
supplies for our school.
Our Office Depot Back to School ID# is
70221592.
I hope
that you have been encouraging your child to read this
summer.
We are planning a delightful
kickoff celebration to set our reading goals this year.
A reading log
should be
kept by each student
and we expect your support with having your child reading each and every
night at home before he/she goes to bed.
We welcome
you to come by the school and visit with your child.
However, we do ask that you provide the teacher with a
24 hour
notice
so
that we do not have an excessive number of interruptions throughout the
day. For
this
same reason,
we also ask that you do not come to the office to check out your child
after 2:15
pm
as the teachers are still providing instruction and assigning homework.
Teachers are available to meet with you as needed.
Please call the school at
573-1082
if you
wish
to
schedule
a conference with your child’s teacher.
Thank you in advance for all of your support.
Michele
Floyd-Hatcher,
Principal
