Guidance

It is the mission of the school counselors at Carter G. Woodson to deliver a multilayered comprehensive guidance program that ensures that the students in our learning community will achieve academically, socially and emotionally. In order to maximize student achievement, the school counselors provide direct assistance and support to all students with a specific focus on those performing below grade level expectations. The counselors cover topics relating to character development such as self control, respect, responsibility, and perseverance. The school counselors collaborate with teachers, parents, and community agencies to further ensure the success of all students.

As a Full Service school there are many responsibilities and services offered through the Guidance Department such as: MRT, Target, Full Service, Homeless Assistance, Volunteer Liaison, Attendance, Perfect Attendance, Attendance Intervention Liaison, Testing Coordinator, Positive Reinforcement for behavior, A+ Conduct, Award Programs, in addition to handling discipline problems.
