The school’s library provides information and ideas that are fundamental to functioning successfully in today’s information and knowledge based society.  The lessons learned in the school’s library are standards based and are designed to equip students with life long learning skills as well as developing their imagination.  These skills will enable them to live and function as responsible and productive members of society.  Each month the library features a book of the month which provides students an opportunity to be exposed to different cultures and genres in literature.  At the end of each month, students, parents and the faculty and staff are invited together for a school wide reading of the book of the month.  The Media Specialist reads the book and the students are allowed to participate and act out a skit related to the book.  This event allows the entire community to encourage our students to become informed and active readers.  The school’s library supports and enhances educational goals outlined by the school and the school district.  In essence, our school’s library builds upon the foundation of our school’s standards based expectations and fosters in our students the habit and enjoyment of reading and learning as well as promoting the use of libraries throughout their lives.
