Physical Education
The physical education department at Carter G. Woodson emphasizes health-related fitness including cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance, muscular strength, flexibility, and body composition. Our philosophy deals with the heart, soul, and health of today's children in school. Many activities students participate in are done to prepare for the president's challenge. These activities include many of the basic exercises such as pull-ups, sit-ups, and jogging as well as various games such as flag football, soccer, and basketball. We also participate in special events throughout the year. Our play day has been a very successful event for the students. We also have various student - staff tournaments through the year. Some of these include kickball and basketball. Overall, our P.E. program is designed to challenge the students physically while creating a fun filled physical education experience. We want the students to have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to engage in a physically active, healthy lifestyle throughout their life. |
