Oct. 7, 2025 - Following thoughtful consideration and robust community engagement, the Duval County Public Schools School Board voted on October 7, 2025, to remain at it’s current administrative headquarters at 1701 Prudential Drive on the Southbank, opting not to relocate to the proposed facility at 8928 Prominence Parkway in Baymeadows.
The decision follows a comprehensive evaluation process, including a public workshop held on September 17, 2025, and reflects the Board’s consideration of community input and commitment to transparency. While the proposed relocation was explored as a potential cost-saving and modernization measure, the Board concluded that maintaining operations at the current Southbank headquarters is the most effective option at this time.
“We’re grateful for the community’s input and will now explore other locations for potential relocation to address our budget challenges and support school improvements,” said Dr. Christopher Bernier, Superintendent of Duval County Public Schools
The Board’s decision to remain at the Southbank location reinforces Duval County Public Schools’ focus on community partnership and feedback.
As the district continues to address budgetary challenges, DCPS will explore alternative cost-saving strategies that protect the classroom and prioritize student outcomes. Through transparency, engagement, and thoughtful stewardship, the district remains committed to serving the needs of students, families, and the broader community—both now and in the years to come.
