Nov.4, 2025 - The Duval County Public Schools School Board voted Tuesday to approve the relocation of its administrative headquarters from its current location at 1701 Prudential Drive on the Southbank to a new facility at 8928 Prominence Parkway in the Baymeadows area. In a related decision, the Board also approved the sale of the current headquarters to Chase Properties.
This decision marks a significant step toward fiscal responsibility and operational efficiency, ensuring more resources are directed to our classrooms and students.
The relocation, which affects only administrative offices, is a financial win for Team Duval. The sale of the Southbank property to Chase Properties, paired with the acquisition of the Baymeadows facility, is expected to generate significant revenue and reduce long-term maintenance costs. These savings will directly support the capital budget and school improvements, enhancing facilities and resources for student success without impacting school operations, transportation, or services.
The new headquarters offers modern amenities, ample parking, and proximity to major roadways, making it more accessible for staff and visitors. “This move allows us to give more back to our schools without taking anything away from students,” said Dr. Christopher Bernier, Superintendent of Duval County Public Schools. “We’re committed to a seamless transition and keeping our community informed every step of the way.”
The transition will not happen overnight. The goal is to complete the sale of the Southbank property and move to Baymeadows for the start of the 2027–2028 school year. Staff will receive detailed timelines, equipment transfer plans, and facility layouts to ensure a smooth transition.
School Board meetings will continue at the Southbank location until further notice.
