Dec. 22, 2025 – Exciting developments are already underway for 2026, as Team Duval plans to begin construction on two new schools in January: Pickett Elementary and Hogan–Spring Glen Elementary, both scheduled to open in August 2027.
Pickett Elementary
The new Pickett Elementary School will be a state-of-the-art facility serving students from the former Pickett, Reynolds Lane, and S.A. Hull elementary schools, bringing these communities together on a modern, consolidated campus designed to meet a full range of student needs.
Demolition of the former Pickett Elementary site is scheduled to begin in early to mid-January 2026. Following consolidation, the existing buildings at Pickett, Reynolds Lane, and S.A. Hull will also be slated for demolition.
The original Pickett Elementary School closed at the end of the 2024–25 school year, with Reynolds Lane currently serving as temporary transition space during construction. This $73 million investment will result in a larger, more efficient school campus that strengthens educational opportunities and better serves the community.
Hogan–Spring Glen Elementary
Demolition of the existing Hogan–Spring Glen building is also scheduled to begin in early to mid-January, with students temporarily attending other district schools during construction.
While consolidation details are still being finalized, the new school is expected to serve students from Hogan–Spring Glen, with additional student populations from Love Grove and Englewood elementary schools. An Advisory Committee Engagement process will begin in January 2026 to support attendance boundary adjustments and community input.
Honorable Mention – Spring Park Elementary
Also scheduled to open in August 2027 is a new Spring Park Elementary School. This new campus will bring together students zoned for Spring Park, as well as some Love Grove and Englewood elementary students. Demolition and construction dates for this project have not yet been scheduled.
