Feb. 12, 2026 - Duval County Public Schools is adjusting its administrative headquarters relocation plans following notification this week from Chase Properties of its intent to terminate the Board-approved agreement to purchase the district’s Southbank headquarters at 1701 Prudential Drive.
The agreement, approved by the School Board in a 4–3 vote on Nov. 4, 2025, would have allowed Chase Properties to acquire the riverfront site for $17.2 million and pursue a mixed-use redevelopment including residential and commercial space.
As a result of Chase Properties’ decision, DCPS has exercised its option to terminate its related purchase contract with Dream Finders Homes secured the right to purchase the renovated office building for approximately $13.65 million as part of the linked transactions.
These actions are consistent with the School Board’s direction to avoid owning two properties simultaneously and to minimize unnecessary financial or operational overlap during any transition period.
District officials emphasized that DCPS is reviewing appropriate next steps with a focus on fiscal responsibility, long-term operational efficiency, and stewardship of taxpayer resources, while continuing to prioritize the needs of students and staff.
At this time, no new timeline has been established for future proposals or decisions. Updates will be shared on the district’s official website.
DCPS will continue operating from its current Prudential Drive location while evaluating options that align with district priorities, including school facility needs, capital planning, and broader downtown revitalization efforts.
