Stingray Nation Weekly Update Atlantic Coast High School

Hello Stingray Nation!

This is Principal Chirino with your week at a glance. As we enter the 7th week of the school year, we want to thank you again for your support, collaboration, and feedback.

I wanted to share a few updates.

We apologize for all phone disruptions on Friday. Our phones began to stop working throughout the day. An emergency work order was submitted to maintenance and it is our hope that all is ready to go tomorrow.

The parking lot continues to be a work on area for all of us. As a school, in collaboration with School Police, we purchased several supplies that are slowly arriving to put in place. However, it is important that we all work together to ensure the safety of our students and that student parking is not blocked by cars pending pick up. Again, please do not block the student parking lanes, as they do need to be able to exit the parking lot.

This week, warnings will be issued for students that have not purchased their parking decals. Consequences will begin being administered next week, September 28th. Parking pass applications are available in the Media Center and passes for sale on schoolcashonline.com.

Last Wednesday, Progress Reports were posted on Parent Focus Accounts. Next week marks the 3 week window before the quarter ends. We encourage all students to be present, to communicate with their teachers for make-up assignments, and to give it their all! You’ve got this, Stingrays!

This is the final week for students to sign up for the next PERT. The test will be given on September 30th after school. Students should watch the Morning Rays for a QR code that links to the sign-up. Sign-ups close on Thursday, September 24th. As a reminder, our Morning Rays Show is available on Youtube as well for our community.

Registration for the next session of after school Drivers Ed is now open! The session begins on October 20th and runs through December 10th. Registration is online and is available on a first come first serve basis. Once we reach 25 students, a waiting list will be created still on a first come first serve basis. You must have a valid Permit in order to sign up for the course. Registration is strictly online here: https://duvalschools.reg.eleyo.com/

Rays, get ready! Northeast Florida Goes to College Week starts Monday! All week long, we’re going to Explore, Plan, Prepare, and Belong as we think about what comes after AC.

On Monday, complete the Personality Test in Xello (at your leisure). Remember to stop by the courtyard before or after 1st period to receive your Northeast Florida Goes to College Week card. That card is your ticket for the rest of the week, so hang on to it!

On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, complete the day’s activity and bring your card to the courtyard before or after 1st period. Counselors will be there to stamp your card. Your goal is to collect all three stamps!

Then on Friday, bring your completed card back to the counselors in the courtyard.  Seniors will receive a free ticket for graduation.  Underclassmen will be placed in a drawing to win a prom ticket for them and 1 guest.

And don’t forget to join in our daily dress-up themes, too!

Five days. Three stamps. One cool prize. Lots of possibilities for your future.

The activity days are:

  • Monday - Be YOU.  Complete the Personality Test in Xello (at your leisure) and collect your stamp card in the courtyard from school counselors before school or after 1st period.

  • Tuesday - Wear your best professional dress. Dress Professionally for your Future Career.

  • Wednesday - Wear GREEN! Green means GO and Scholarships mean free money.

  • Thursday - Represent your favorite college or university by proudly wearing their gear!

  • Friday - Get in the Game! Wear AC Gear and turn your card in for a cool prize!

  • Saturday, September 26th - NACAC College Fair at UNF, 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM; explore hundreds of colleges.

Seniors you can still purchase the Senior Bundle which includes a yearbook, an all-season sports pass, senior clothing and gear, a ticket to prom and the new winter white out dance, and more! You can pay in full or you can make a down payment as part of the payment plan, your choice. Seniors have until October 1st to purchase their bundle. Once you have made your purchase, you must show your receipt to Ms. Solomon during your lunch. You will find her in room 123 (next door to the media center).

Senior ad pages for this year’s yearbook are on sale at yearbookordercenter.com. This is also where you can place your orders for a yearbook. Last year we sold out of both senior ads and yearbooks. Right now is their lowest price of the year so don’t wait!

Seniors, be sure to schedule your senior photos with Cady Studios at cady.com/schedule. Only photos taken with Cady will be in the yearbook.

As always, if you have any feedback or input on our work here at Atlantic Coast please reach out to the school.
