Choral Department
The Choral Department at Atlantic Coast High School offers multiple performance-based courses, including Vocal Techniques 1-4, Chorus 1, Chorus 2-5, & Vocal Ensemble 2-5. Through participation in the choral program, students will have the opportunity to develop their vocal technique, while exploring multiple musical genres, styles, time periods, and languages. The Stingray Singers and Atlantic Coast Chorale have earned straight superior ratings at District and State Choral Music Performance Assessments. Our vocal students have earned consecutive superior ratings at the District & State Solo & Ensemble Music Performance Assessments, including performances in musical theatre, jazz, classical opera, & traditional spirituals. Vocal students have had the opportunity to perform on the district, state, and national level through the Florida Vocal Association, the Florida Music Education Association All-State Choirs, the Florida American Choral Director’s Association Honor Choirs, & the Honor’s Performance Series at Carnegie Hall in New York City. In addition, our vocal students perform regularly throughout the school year in various performances on and off campus, including school concerts, Jacksonville Sings Invitational, DCPS Honor Choir Festival, & many more. Our program offers multiple opportunities for our students to workshop with expert clinicians and college/university music professors.
