During Testing - State Testing

Make sure students are using Florida Secure Browser (icon on desktop)

  • Have students log in as soon as they get to their seats. Allow time for apps like Teams and Bluebook to auto-load. Then have students log out of all apps and other browsers.

Read the Script Word-for-Word

  • Do not paraphrase. Only read what’s in the manual/script.

  • Pause when indicated for student questions, then resume exactly as written.

Fill out Required Paperwork

  • Create a seating chart.

  • Complete the Administration Record/Security Checklist and Security Log. Be sure to put your name on the first line of the Security Log.

Actively Monitor the Testing Room

  • Continuously walk the room and observe student behavior—never sit and disengage.

  • Look for prohibited behaviors: talking, using devices, looking at others’ work, etc. Be aware that students are creative in hiding phones in their sleeves and pockets. Be vigilant in looking for unusual behaviors, such as frequent downward glances/looking away from their screen, excessive watching of your movements, secretive hand movements, shifting posture to hide a device, excessive body tension, and so on.

  • Wake Students Up! Do not allow students to sleep while they are still testing. Encourage them to stand and stretch or take a quick bathroom break. Non-accommodated students who are not actively testing are not allowed to stay for extended time. You can communicate this to students.

Maintain Test Security

  • Ensure no unauthorized materials are in view or in students' possession (phones, notes, etc.).

  • Watch for misconduct and report immediately using this form.

  • Keep track of students leaving the room (note time out/time in on Security Log).

  • Do not prop doors.

  • For EOC retakes, students may leave after 60 minutes (FAST ELA) or 80 minutes (all other tests), if they have finished testing.

  • For PM 1 and 2 and end-of-course testing, no students should have their devices back until the entire room is finished testing.

  • Students may not use their laptops for studying or other activities even after they finish testing.

Monitor Timing and Breaks

  • Use a reliable timing method and announce breaks (if applicable).

  • Record any irregularities or student issues in your Administration Record.

  • Students have the length of an entire school day to test if they are actively testing.

Protect Test Materials

  • Ensure scratch paper, work folders/worksheets, etc. stay secure.

  • Collect all materials before any student leaves.

Follow Extended Time Protocols

An announcement will be made five minutes prior to the end of the testing session for students who need more time.

  • If a student has more than 5 questions remaining, they must follow the instructions provided in the announcement at that time.

  • Cell phones of students moving to extended time should be sent with a runner to the extended time room. They will not be returned to these students until they have finished their extended time session.

  • Have these students pause their session and close their laptops.

  • End your session. This will allow these students to log in to a new session in the extended time room.
