Testing Accommodations

At Atlantic Coast High School, we are committed to ensuring that all students have the support they need to succeed on standardized tests. If a student has an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or a 504 Plan, they may qualify for testing accommodations on the PSAT, SAT, ACT, AP Exams, and CLT assessments. Below is a guide to how accommodations are processed for each test.

College Board Accommodations (PSAT, SAT & AP Exams)

For students taking the PSAT, SAT, or AP Exams, accommodations are approved directly through College Board.

How to Apply:

  • During the student’s IEP or 504 meeting, accommodations are reviewed and confirmed.

  • The school submits accommodation requests to College Board for approval.

  • Once approved, accommodations apply to all College Board tests (PSAT, SAT, and AP Exams).

Important: Approval can take several weeks. It’s best to apply early to ensure accommodations are in place before test day.

ACT Accommodations

The ACT requires students to request accommodations individually at the time of registration.

How to Apply:

  • When registering for the ACT, students must indicate that they need accommodations.

  • The request is then sent to our Testing Coordinator and information is sent to ACT Services for Students with Disabilities for approval.

  • Once approved, accommodations will be applied to the student’s ACT exam.

Important: Unlike College Board, ACT may require accommodations to be requested for each test session, so students must go through the approval process for every ACT they take.

CLT (Classic Learning Test) Accommodations

For students taking the CLT (Classic Learning Test), accommodations must be requested directly through CLT.

How to Apply:

  • Students submit their accommodation request when registering for the CLT.

  • Supporting documentation, such as an IEP or 504 Plan, must be provided.

  • CLT reviews and approves accommodations on a case-by-case basis.

Important: CLT has its own accommodation guidelines and may require additional documentation.
