Testing Graduation Requirements
To earn a standard high school diploma in Florida, students must meet state testing requirements in addition to earning the required course credits and GPA. Below are the key assessment requirements:
Required Assessments for Graduation
Students must achieve a passing score on the following assessments:
Grade 10 FAST English Language Arts (ELA) Assessment
B.E.S.T. Algebra 1 End-of-Course (EOC) Assessment
Alternative Ways to Meet the Testing Requirement
If a student does not pass the required tests, they may still meet the graduation requirement through these alternative pathways:
Retake and pass the Grade 10 FAST ELA or Algebra 1 EOC assessments (offered multiple times each year).
Earn a concordant or comparative score on an alternative test such as the SAT, ACT, or PSAT. See Comparative Scores Opportunities below.
Testing Accommodations & Special Circumstances
Students with disabilities may be eligible for assessment waivers if determined necessary by their Individualized Education Plan (IEP) team.
English Language Learners (ELL students) who have been in the program for less than two years may demonstrate proficiency through alternative assessments.
Scholar Diploma Designation
Students seeking a Scholar Diploma must pass the FAST 10 PM 3, Algebra 1, Geometry, Biology 1, and U.S. History EOC exams or earn qualifying scores on AP, IB, or AICE exams in these subjects.
