Student-Guardian Contract

Greetings AJHS Students & Guardians!
For the first time since AJHS was transitioned to becoming a dedicated magnet, we will be at capacity for enrollment. Our growth has allowed us to add many options for on campus dual enrollment, AP courses, activities and clubs. However, with this growth comes a major shift in the way our magnet programs need to be viewed. These programs are not elective courses. When a student selects a magnet, they are choosing to participate in a program of study and a sequence of courses that must be taken each year. A student that desires to change their program must reapply to Andrew Jackson during magnet application season.
For some programs like AFJROTC, failure to comply with magnet program requirements will result in the student's magnet assignment being cancelled and the student being required to enroll in another high school. Our growth presents amazing new opportunities. Expectations are high for the TIGER NATION! We are excited about AJHS becoming an A School but more importantly, one of the top Advanced Technology schools in the southeast.
Join us in this effort by reviewing the attached Student-Guardian contract for the upcoming school year, and being prepared to sign and submit upon return to school. All students will be required to have this contract on file. This contract is modeled off of other dedicated magnet schools' contracts within DCPS. It has been vetted by our magnet teachers and administration, and reviewed and adopted by our School Advisory Committee. If you have questions specific to this contract, please do not hesitate to reach out to Mr. Townsend at Email Mr. Townsend
