The Gifted Program
Our gifted program is an exciting enrichment experience designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning. The program encourages students to think beyond the ordinary, explore ideas, and discover multiple ways to solve problems.
In the Gifted classroom, students participate in divergent thinking activities. These lessons challenge students to move beyond the expected answer and explore many possible solutions. For example, students may design a bridge using limited materials, solve real-world problems through teamwork, or create original inventions to meet specific challenges. These activities help develop critical thinking, and problem-solving skills that students can apply across all subjects.
Students also engage in hands-on projects that require planning, testing ideas, and revising their work. These projects encourage collaboration, perseverance, and flexible thinking. Learning doesn't stop in the classroom either! Students participate in field trips that allow them to experience history, culture, science, and the arts firsthand. These real-world experiences help bring learning to life and create meaningful, lasting memories.
The Gifted Program provides students with a participatory and experiential approach to learning that goes beyond what textbooks alone can offer. By actively exploring, questioning, and creating, students gain deeper understanding and confidence in their abilities.
Eligibility for the Gifted Program
Students may be considered for the Gifted Program through a teacher recommendation, or parents may request testing by contacting the school. Your child's homeroom teacher is the best first point of contact. Once a student is recommended, formal testing will be conducted to determine eligibility for gifted services.
Our goal is to support each child's unique strengths and help them reach their fullest potential in a challenging, engaging, and nurturing learning environment.
