Chimney Lakes Elementary has an MFLC that is available to support military children and their families as they navigate the challenges of military life. The MFLC provides short-term, solution-focused counseling services to children in groups and individually. MFLCs are master’s or doctorate-level licensed counselors who may:

• Consult with parents, caregivers, and school personnel on the healthy development of children and youth

• Model evidence-based intervention approaches

• Assist with strategies for cultivating a deeper understanding of children’s social-emotional development

   

• Support students in the classroom

MFLCs collaborate with children, families, and school personnel on issues pertaining to:

• Deployment and reunification

• Emotional regulation

• Coping strategies

• Self-esteem

• Separation from parents

• Problem Solving

• Relational stress

• Time-management

• Divorce
