
Military Family Life Counselor (MFLC)

Chimney Lakes Elementary has an MFLC that is available to support military children and their families as they navigate the challenges of military life. The MFLC provides short-term, solution-focused counseling services to children in groups and individually. MFLCs are master’s or doctorate-level licensed counselors who may:
Consult with parents, caregivers, and school personnel on the healthy development of children and youth
Model evidence-based intervention approaches
Assist with strategies for cultivating a deeper understanding of children’s social-emotional development
Support students in the classroom
MFLCs collaborate with children, families, and school personnel on issues pertaining to:
Deployment and reunification
Emotional regulation
Coping strategies
Self-esteem
Separation from parents
Problem Solving
Relational stress
Time-management
Divorce
