School Counselor

Mrs. Leayra Mervin

I am honored to serve as your school counselor, committed to supporting middle school students as they grow academically, socially, and emotionally. I strive to help students learn how to be the best version of themselves while navigating the unique challenges of middle school. I have a strong passion for college and career readiness and enjoy helping students explore their strengths, interests, and future goals.

I am a proud product of Duval County Public Schools, having attended DCPS from kindergarten through 12th grade. This journey included attending Joseph Stilwell Middle School, LaVilla Middle School, and Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, where I studied vocal performance. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, and a Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of North Florida.

Having lived the DCPS experience, I am deeply committed to supporting the whole child through individual counseling, small groups, and classroom lessons in collaboration with families and staff. I am honored to give back to the community that shaped me and look forward to partnering with you to help your student thrive.
