In partnership with Duval County Public Schools, #NextGenMed is a comprehensive individualized and career mentorship program supporting underrepresented high school students aspiring to have careers in healthcare. Beginning in their sophomore year, Mayo Clinic will pair participating students with a practicing healthcare professional.

Students will receive support and advice on their short-term and long-term educational, career and professional development goals. They will also have the opportunity to participate in virtual and live career exploration events. This provides students a chance to network with health professionals from Mayo Clinic who are working in various health care careers, as well as, take part in activities to aid them in becoming familiar with careers available in the health care setting.

While the #NextGenMed program currently supports rising tenth graders, our hope is that by the time they graduate high school, students will have built a strong relationship with our mentors, who will provide comprehensive support as they continue their education or pursue career development opportunities.
