Mission of the DCPS Program for Students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing:

It is the mission of the Duval County Public School Program for Students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) to utilize rich literacy and language-focused approach to provide an individually challenging learning environment where students are inspired to reach their individual potential and are prepared for success in college or a career.

Goals of the DCPS Program for Students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing:  

  • Support the needs of students, staff and families by fostering an understanding of hearing loss

  • Provide a continuum of evidence-based intervention strategies and services to improve students' auditory access, communication abilities, and academic achievement

  • Make available to students an environment where their language needs are central and essential to a free and appropriate education

Educational Audiological Services

Provide evaluations, support, and specialized equipment to allow students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing to access spoken language and academic instruction.

Educational Interpreters

Facilitate communication between deaf and hearing consumers, signing all that is said and voicing the English that is signed.

Duval County Public Schools Deaf and Hard of Hearing Itinerant Program

 Placements will be assigned to middle or high school programs based on student need and the student’s home address, unless the parent elects a school choice option and provides transportation.
