
School Social Work
DCPS Social Workers assist families towards the goal of improving students’ social, emotional, and academic well-being, fostering healthy development of the whole child.
Each SSW is assigned to a variety of schools to offer an array of services to address the needs of all students. Services include, but not limited to:
- Home Visits 
- Agency Referrals 
- Attendance Support 
- Psycho-social evaluations, including adaptive assessments 
- Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) 
- Multidisciplinary Consultations 
- Child Abuse Awareness, Prevention and Reporting 
- Crisis Intervention and Response Services 
- Community trainings in Parent Academy and Youth Mental Health First Aid 
- Interventions and Accommodations for students 
- Establish connection to school and community resources 
- Implementation of District Programs and Initiatives 
- Short term individual/group counseling
