Volunteers
Volunteers are a vital part of student success in Duval County Public Schools. More than 27,000 volunteers support schools each year and the number is growing. The employees of the Department of Community and Family Engagement work hand and hand with volunteer liaisons at schools to encourage interested parents and citizens to join us in our mission to provide every student with a high quality education. You can help by becoming a volunteer today.
To ensure the safety of our students, volunteers who will be at the school more than once, must complete an application and undergo a criminal background screening, free of charge.
Title I Parent Family Engagement Plan
The Duval County Public School District Local Educational Agency (LEA) can only receive Title I, Part A funds if it conducts outreach to all parents and family members and implements programs, activities, and procedures for the involvement of parents and families consistent with Section 1116 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) of 1965. The programs, activities, and procedures shall be planned and implemented with meaningful consultation with parents of participating children
Hyde Park's Parent and Family Engagement Plan is located in the Parent Resource room.
Duval McKinney-Vento Program (DMVP)
The Stewart B. McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act authorizes direct services that enable homeless children, including preschool-aged children and youth, to enroll, attend, and achieve success in school. Our homeless education program is now entitled Duval McKinney-Vento Program or DMVP. The primary goal of DMVP is to ensure that barriers are reduced or eliminated, so that students are able to maintain school stability when experiencing homelessness.
