Being named Ribault Middle School’s Teacher of the Year then advancing as a DCPS Teacher of the Year semifinalist made this journey even more meaningful and a tremendous honor. As a civics educator and Social Studies Department Lead, I strive to create a classroom where every student feels seen, supported, challenged, and empowered to use their voice. 

My teaching philosophy is simple: “If a student does not learn the way I teach, then I must teach the way they learn.”

My favorite part of being a COLT is watching students grow in confidence, mature into young leaders, and realize they are capable of more than they ever imagined.
