Introducing Ms. Villar - Teacher of the Year 2024-2025
I was born and raised in Naga City, Philippines. I dreamt of becoming a teacher since I was a child, I was inspired to make a difference.
I have been teaching for 10 years. My journey began as an educator in 2014 in the Philippines. I taught students in both General Education and Intellectual Disabilities classes.
I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education from Ateneo De Naga University, Philippines and a Master's Degree in Special Education from Mabini Colleges, Inc., Philippines.
In 2021 I decided to broaden my teaching experience and had the opportunity to be an Exchange Teacher here in the U.S.A. and become a part of Love Grove, teaching and being an ambassador to help students develop broader worldview intercultural understanding and personal growth.
For the past four years at Love Grove I have taught Physically Impaired SLA in Kindergarten and First Grade. I am currently teaching 5th Grade SLA.
I have always been passionate about fostering a love for learning and helping students with exceptionalities to succeed in every way possible, especially beyond the classroom. My classroom is created in a way that my students feel safe, included, accepted and loved.
I also serve as the Special Olympics school liaison that promotes inclusion, respect and belonging to all students with intellectual disabilities through various programs like sports. We have also been working hard to teach our students Life Skills that aim to help them be successful beyond the classroom.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy cooking, watching movies, exploring different cultures and traveling with my family.
I am proud to be a Filipino and look forward to another exciting year filled with learning adventures!
