Student-Led Transition Program

The Elementary Student-Led Transition Program is designed to empower young students in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade to help ease the stress with school transitions. This program helps students build confidence, develop social skills, and foster a supportive community through peer leadership and collaboration.

In this program, selected student leaders work alongside teachers and staff to welcome and support their classmates during times of change. These student leaders help organize activities that introduce younger students to the routines, expectations, and friendships that will make their new grade or school environment feel safe and exciting.

Key elements include:

  • Peer Buddy System: Older students mentor younger peers to provide guidance and friendship.

  • Welcome Activities: Student leaders plan fun, inclusive activities that help new students feel connected.

  • Classroom Tours and Orientation: Student guides lead tours and explain daily routines to ease anxiety.

  • Social Skills Workshops: Activities led by students to practice cooperation, kindness, and communication.

  • Celebration Events: Students help organize events that celebrate progress and build school spirit.

This program helps all students develop leadership skills, empathy, and a sense of belonging, creating a positive and inclusive school community during important transition times.
