MAJ School Counseling Mission Statement

The mission of Mamie Agnes Jones School Counseling Program is to provide a comprehensive, developmental, and preventative program to address the needs of all students in the areas of academic, career and personal/social development. The counseling program also supports personal growth through culturally diverse leadership experiences.

Ms. Turano strives to deliver core counseling lessons in all classrooms for all grade levels. These lessons include social and emotional learning, and career, STEM and drone education which helps to tie-in to academic lessons and give purpose. Core lessons include songs, stories, puppets, and art activities. Children learn to solve their own problems with conflict resolution, anger control, stress management and self-regulation. For students who need more assistance, small group and individual counseling sessions are available.
