Our MAJ Safety Patrols are responsible for keeping all students safe at the school. Patrols arrive to school early to present and raise our American Flag and recite the Pledge of Allegiance and our Safety Patrol Pledge. After, they report to their post for their morning duties where they assist students to class safely, monitor the hallways, hold the front doors, and open the car doors for students. When it is raining patrols provide umbrellas to keep students dry while walking into the building. When the first bell rings, patrols head to class where they are role models for their peers. Patrols leave class a few minutes before dismissal so they can be on their afternoon posts when dismissal begins. Afternoon duties consist of holding open the front doors, opening car rider doors, monitoring hallways, and checking off bus students as they board their bus.
The JSO helps to sponsor an awesome trop for the patrols to our nation's capital, Washington D.C. in the summer for a week. This trip is the highlight of the year for most safety patrols. We take charter buses up and visit many museums and even spend a day at Busch Gardens in Virginia.
The Safety Patrol Pledge is as follows:
Safety Patrol Pledge:
I promise to do my best to…
Report for duty on time;
Perform my duties faithfully;
Strive to prevent accidents;
Always setting a good example myself;
Obey my teachers and officers of the patrol;
Report dangerous student practices;
Strive to earn the respect of fellow students.
