Mayport gifted and academically talented students have the opportunity to participate in accelerated high school coursework to prepare them with the knowledge, confidence, and study skills needed to pursue competitive opportunities, including academic programs at Wolfson, Stanton, and Fletcher High Schools.

Gifted and Academically Talented (GATE) students are scheduled in cohorts with other GATE students and with teachers who are Gifted endorsed. Additionally, we offer a GATE elective course that is driven by student-interest in which hands-on, research-based projects are completed in an academically stimulating environment. Students in the GATE program conduct labs and experience field trips in the arts, agriculture, and science. What’s more, scholars help Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry (BEAM) volunteers in our school garden to harvest fresh produce for local families in need. Building relationships in the local community is interwoven throughout student activities, whether it be visiting a local farmers market or learning from guest speakers excited to share their passions with young learners.

Students who are staffed gifted and those identified as academically talented are invited to this program.
