AICE: Advanced International Certificate of Education
CIE (Cambridge International Examinations) is the world’s largest provider of international qualifications for 14-19 year olds. AICE is affiliated with the University of Cambridge. As a point of comparison, as of February 2011, there were 6,975 IB schools worldwide in 140 countries. On the other hand, there are over 9,000 schools in 161 countries that offer CIE qualifications, and this number continues to grow, especially in the United States.
One of the advantages of the AICE program here at Mandarin, however, is that it offers greater flexibility to students. Indeed, the AICE advantage is the students’ ability to take AICE classes and exams starting in grade 10, whereas IB students are only allowed to take exams during their 11th and 12th grade years, respectively. In addition to providing opportunities to earn college credit or advanced standing at colleges and universities throughout the US, the AICE program also offers a broad curriculum that prepares students to become well-rounded and empathetic citizens within a global community. The curriculum also fulfills requirements of eligibility for the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship.

Medical Academy
Students in the different Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs are cohorted together. This means that students in the different academies take at least one of their core classes with other students in their academy. For this to work, students must follow the course progression. Students in the medical academy are required to maintain academic integrity and good behavior and failure to do so could result in removal from the medical academy.
Requirements:
- 2.3 GPA or higher
- Level 2 FAST ELA or higher
- A desire to work in the Medical field as a career path
- Completed application with teacher recommendations
- 9th or 10th grade students for the upcoming school year only can apply (unless transferring from another school's Medical Academy)
*If you are going to be a 10th grade student starting in the Medical Academy you will have to take 2 Medical Academy courses during your 10th grade year
If MHS is not your zoned high school, you will need to apply for a general special assignment. Admittance to the Medical Academy does not guarantee admittance to MHS if you are not zoned for our school.
