San Mateo Elementary offers an accelerated learning experience through a rigorous and engaging academic program designed to challenge young minds. Our program provides enriching instruction that fosters curiosity, critical thinking, and a lifelong love of learning.

By setting high expectations and supporting each student’s individual growth, San Mateo Elementary prepares children for continued success in middle school and beyond.

Gifted children are present in all segments of the population. Gifted children are entitled to broadened access to the gifted program regardless of race, national origin, gender or socioeconomic background.

Program opportunities are provided for gifted students in elementary and secondary settings. The elementary program consists of either an enrichment class in a pull-out setting or content area classes where gifted students are cluster grouped together with a gifted endorsed teacher. 

These students don't need more work (quantity); they need harder work (complexity) to keep their intellectual fire burning.
