Thank you to all of our families who joined us for Magnet Welcome Night! We are thrilled to welcome you to the Springfield family and are excited about the incredible year ahead filled with growth, exploration, and opportunity. 

Below is a quick recap of important information along with key next steps to help you and your student prepare for a successful start.

📚 Program & School Highlights

Students will follow a 7-period school day, with each class lasting 48 minutes. 

Core classes include ELA, Math, Advanced Science, and Social Studies, along with PE/Health, Technology, and electives.

Our magnet program offers engaging electives like Band, Art, Global Scholars, Forensics, Speech & Debate, Theater, and more.

🎯 Students are encouraged to get involved in clubs, athletics, and leadership opportunities to make the most of their middle school experience.

🧠 Academics at a Glance

ELA: Focus on writing, speaking, and analyzing literature using resources like Exact Path and Edgenuity. 

Math: Emphasis on problem-solving, ratios, equations, geometry, and statistics. 

Science: Hands-on labs, inquiry-based learning, and a required Science Fair project (due early November). 

Social Studies: Civics, government, and law with a History Fair project (Dec/Jan).

📖 Summer Reading

Each grade level has a required summer reading book and digital book report. 

Assignments are due during the 1st quarter.

Begin reading and start their digital project

🚌 Transportation

Bus registration is OPEN in FOCUS now.

Transportation is based on the address listed in FOCUS. 

Families should register even if unsure about using transportation.
