Advanced Placement Courses Offered at Westside High School

An advanced placement (AP) course is a rigorous academic program designed to prepare high school students for college-level courses of study. These courses are typically offered by colleges or universities, but they can also be taken through private organizations or independent schools. AP courses cover a wide range of subjects, including mathematics, science, social studies, language arts, and art. Students who enroll in these courses often have advanced knowledge or skills in the subject matter, and they are expected to work at an accelerated pace.

AP exams are designed to test students' mastery of the material covered in their AP coursework. These exams are typically offered once a year, usually in May or June, and they are administered by the College Board. The scores on these exams range from 1 to 5, with 5 being the highest possible score. Many colleges and universities use AP exam scores as part of their admissions process, and some even offer credit for high scores on certain exams.
