Reproductive Health & Disease Prevention Education BANNER

As part of the DCPS K–12 Comprehensive Health Education program, the Reproductive Health and Disease Prevention Education curriculum provides medically accurate, age-appropriate information emphasizing abstinence as the expected standard for all students. The curriculum also incorporates instruction on healthy relationships, communication skills, human development, and other related topics. Students learn about the potential consequences of unprotected sex, including STDs/STIs, HIV, and unintended pregnancy.

The program encourages students to engage in meaningful conversations with their parents or guardians to help determine personal values related to sexual activity. Students are also reminded about counseling services available within the school district, as well as community resources for additional support.
