Feb. 13, 2026 – Mid-year results from the district’s Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) Progress Monitoring 2 (PM2) show continued academic progress and consistent growth among Duval County Public Schools students, in line with gains taking place across the state of Florida.

Progress Monitoring tests, administered three times a year, track student progress on grade-level standards. The assessments cover English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics.

Districtwide results from the FAST ELA PM2 show that 43% of DCPS students, including charter schools, are performing at or above grade level. This marks a 9-percentage-point increase since the beginning of the school year and a 3-percentage-point increase compared to PM2 last year. Additionally, 42% of traditional district students are proficient on FAST ELA PM2.

Results from the FAST Mathematics PM2 show that 30% of DCPS students, including charter schools, are performing at or above grade level. This reflects a 16-percentage-point increase from the beginning of the school year and a 1-percentage-point increase over last year’s PM2 results. Twenty-nine percent of traditional district students are proficient on FAST Mathematics PM2.

Duval County Public Schools students are demonstrating similar upward progress compared to students across the state. Statewide, 49% of students are performing at or above grade level in ELA and 34% in Mathematics, reflecting mid-year gains across Florida.

“Mid-year progress monitoring results show that Florida’s students are continuing to succeed. I commend the hard work of students across our state and the dedication of teachers whose classroom instruction is pivotal to these gains,” said Commissioner of Education Anastasios Kamoutsas.

Since the first year of FAST Progress Monitoring in the 2022–23 school year, DCPS has increased ELA proficiency by 9 percentage points and Mathematics proficiency by 3 percentage points — scores that reflect sustained academic growth across the district.

The district is conducting additional analysis to review results at each grade level. Its continued focus on high-quality instruction, targeted supports, and consistent progress monitoring is contributing to measurable improvements in student achievement.

Duval County Public Schools will continue working closely with educators, students, and families to build on this momentum and ensure every student finishes the school year strong.
