Stingray Nation Weekly Update Atlantic Coast High School

Hello Stingray Nation!

Monday, March 23rd, is a Teacher Planning Day and there will be no school for students. Classes will resume for Quarter 4 on Tuesday, March 24. Quarter 3 report cards will be available for families to view in Focus on Tuesday, March 31st.

Our PTSA is meeting this week on Tuesday, March 24th, at 5:30pm in the media center.

Also join us this Tuesday, March 24th, at 6:15pm for our monthly School Advisory Committee meeting in the media center. Parents, students, and community members are welcome to attend.

Don’t miss the annual Teacher vs. Student Basketball Game on April 2! Tickets are $4 on GoFan, and only 900 are available. This event has sold out the last three years, so be sure to get yours early.

On Wednesday, April 1st, many of our students will be taking an important test. All 9th and 10th ELA students will be taking the BEST Writing test, while all 11th graders will be taking the in-school SAT. Seniors will be assigned a designated place for study hall. If your student will be testing, please make sure they bring their charged laptop and charger to school. We appreciate your support!

Prom Court applications are now available for pick-up in Mrs. Williams’ classroom (room 212). Only seniors are eligible to run for Prom Court. Seniors may pick up an application during their lunch beginning tomorrow. All applications are due by March 31st.

Permission slips for Prom were distributed to 11th and 12th grade students in their English classes two weeks ago. They were also emailed to their DCPS student emails and posted on OneView. A signed permission slip is required for all students to attend Prom. Guest forms are included on the back of the permission slip. Students bringing a guest must submit a completed permission slip along with a copy of their guest’s student ID before purchasing the guest ticket on School Cash Online.

The Course Selection process for the 2026–2027 school year is ongoing. School counselors will meet individually with students to select courses for the next school year. Before these meetings, students will attend grade-level scheduling assemblies where they will receive important information about graduation requirements, academic planning, and post-secondary options. On the A-day and B-day following the assembly, students will receive the following materials in their English classes: an updated Ray Ready Rundown (Planning Your Path to College and Career), a draft Course Request Card, the Atlantic Coast Course Progression, and the Course Description Guide. These materials are designed to help students prepare for their one-on-one meeting with their school counselor. The draft Course Request Card must be completed before the scheduled counseling meeting. Meeting times will be arranged through students’ English classes.

Parents are encouraged to review and discuss course options and selections with their student ahead of time. During the individual meeting, counselors will use the draft Course Request Card to finalize the official Course Request Card, and students will have the opportunity to ask any questions they may have.

Scheduling Assemblies:

  • Freshmen: March 10th

School Counselor Course Selection Meetings:

  • Sophomores: March 6th – March 27th

  • Freshmen: March 25th – April 9th

Thank you for your support as we help students plan for a successful school year ahead.

As always, if you have any feedback or input on our work here at Atlantic Coast please reach out to the school.
